The Big Day

Well Saturday was the Big Day we've been working towards for several weeks now. It was very exciting getting prepared and setting up the table with all of our lovely items in one place. Julia and I missed Kate on the day, but hopefully she'll be able to join us for the next one. Besides, she was busy celebrating her daughter's 5th birthday - a major milestone!

Julia and I had a wonderful time at Craft 2.0 and met so many lovely people. The feedback was fabulous, with many wonderful compliments coming our way. We've had great support from all our friends and family leading up to this, so a huge thank you to everyone :)

Despite the very warm weather, we managed to make some good sales, and are very happy overall with our first ever Craft 2.0! Craft 2.0 is such a wonderful craft market to be involved in and we are in awe of the amazing organisational skills involved in managing such a large and popular event.

Leafy Shrugs

Julia knit this pattern earlier this year in a Budding Designers KAL on Rav and knew she wanted to have the Cottage License for it. She was going to put it off until the weather started warming up again, but recently someone enquired about her knitting it for their daughter's Christening - hey presto! Julia now has the CL for StitchyMama/Katherine Oxlade Knacks' Leafy Shrug which means she can knit this to sell.

This is a beautiful lacey shrug, great for summer BBQs as the weather cools in the evenings as well as spring & autumn days when another warmer layer is necessary. It makes a special one of a kind gift, perfect for birthdays and Christenings.

Kids Handwarmers

Introducing another pattern that I love, and that I'd love to knit for you!


A friend of mine, Samantha Goodin has just developed a cute little handwarmers pattern that I was lucky enough to test - and I loved it so much (and more to the point, Penny loves her pair of handwarmers so much too) that I'm now able to knit these handwarmers for sale

You'll have to excuse the variety of colours Penny is wearing, she loves to dress herself

These practical little handwarmers are great for kids - they can still use all their fingers and thumb to play and manipulate things while keeping their hands toasty warm. They're also great for thumb and finger suckers, it means that they can still access their thumb/fingers while sitting in the stroller while you're out for a walk or in their carseat.

Helena Jackets

This is a lovely simple lace jacket, designed by Alison Green Will. I've knit this with both a more girly picot edge and a simpler garter stitch one as a matinee jacket for a baby boy.

Introducing .... Eden's Adam and Eden's Eve

The Coco Kids team are proud to announce that we are all now licensed to knit Eden's Adam and Eden's Eve, by designer tiKKi (Georgie Hallam). We all tested this wonderful pattern for Georgie and now are very happy to be able to knit these for sale.

This is a versatile top that can be knitted as a vest/singlet version (Adam) or the dress version (Eve) - above is the Adam in various colours and sizes. Here is an Eden knit in 100% cotton, perfect for summer, or with a long sleeved top and leggings underneath for cooler weather.

The size ranges from newborn up to size 10 and can be knit in cotton or wool, meaning it can be worn as a warm singlet underneath clothing or over the top of a long sleeved top for winter and on its own when the weather is warmer.

There are many variations and ways to personalise this garment, with different options for the bottom and with the addition of pockets if desired. It can be knitted in stripes, variegated yarns, or solid and semi solid colours meaning each finished item is truly a unique item of clothing.

Poppy Hats

This delightful flapper-style hat is the perfect accessory to the Roaring Meg cardigan.

As it's design is similar to the Aviatrix Hat, it can be worn by both girls and boys (knit in a beanie style minus the flap and buttons)

Aviatrix

And another hat! This one called 'Aviatrix' for obvious reasons was designed by Justine Turner, a fabulous New Zealand designer.

It comes in a wide range of sizes: newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2-4 years and 4 years plus (I have the measurements for these if you'd like to check which is the right size for your child). It looks great on both boys and girls, awesome for kids that pull off hats. I've added 2 buttons to this one so that there's room for growth.

Julia's had a number of comments lately about this hat and so is thrilled to be able to offer these for orders.

This chunky cabled hat designed by Amy Swenson comes in three sizes: 3-9mo, 1-3yrs and Kids-Adult (Finished Circumference at Brim: 16(18, 22) inches)

Juliette - A-Line Skirty or Skirted Soaker

This wee gem (designed by Tia Novick) is the A-line version of the Juliette (the ruffled version also features here at Coco Kids). It can be knitted either with or without a soaker underneath.

The one pictured is a medium which I knitted for my 5 month old niece. I hope this grows with her though and that it'll be cute for next winter still with some little leggings underneath. I puposely knitted this without the soaker so it can be worn with tights or leggings.

This one features 2 rows of eyelet detailing, as well as a picot edging and 2 separate rows of the pink to tie in the colour of the top waist band. All of these can be tailored to your taste, the picot edging can also be swapped for a little ruffle rather than the full pleats of the ruffled Juliette

I also knit a matching Confection Shrug to go with this

In 100% wool from The Wool Company in colourways Donkey and Ballet.

Designed to go over cloth nappies as a water proof layer. Soaker will need to be lanolised to be effective as a water proof layer. To lanolise the soaker simply dissolve a tsp of lanolin in hot water and add to luke warm tub of water and soak item for a wee while.

Shown here on my 16 month old - at the very limit for use with this size!

Worn over an Itti Bitti cloth nappy which is very trim.

Welcome to our new venture together! We look forward to meeting your custom handknitting needs!

We have known each other for what feels like much longer than about a year and a half, and decided to join together in a custom handknit business when we noticed we were each asking the same questions about gaining cottage licenses. We could've easily become 'competition' to each other, but working together we are able to offer a wide and varied range of items, as well as having support and sounding boards to help us get started.

Cupcake Hats

Cupcake Anyone?

This cute wee hat designed by Wendi Dunlap comes in three sizes - baby, toddler and child.

I've made a couple of these for my new neices to make up a set with little rainbow dresses. I actually had to try one of them on my model to check the size and fit and it looked pretty spot on to me!

I like adding a little embellishment or flower, but they could just as easily be made in boyish or gender neutral colours as a little beanie.
